The moment I switched from a traditional wheel to this gaming wheel with gear padals, my experience underwent a remarkable transformation. The addition of 6 gears and a reverse gear added a new dimension to the gameplay and control of the cars. It was as if I had stepped into an F1 car, with the ability to switch gears using the LB and RB paddles behind the wheel in the game - just like in real-life racing.
I also appreciated how well it worked for Euro Truck Simulator 2, where trucks have up to 18 gears. And again, once you've used a gear stick in racing games, it's hard to go back to not using one. I felt like a kid playing Daytona USA in the arcades of the 90s again - the rush of adrenaline and excitement was palpable.
The only thing that was lacking was some sort of fix to stop the pedals from sliding when moving on certain types of flooring, but once I got used to it, everything worked perfectly. The clutch and accelerator pedals were easy to press, while the brake required a bit more force and practice to get used to.
I was initially hesitant about the wheel's price tag, but after seeing the attachments that came with it - a table, desk or something to hold it in place - I knew it was a worthwhile investment. The pedal grip on the bottom of the unit wasn't ideal for certain flooring types, but a simple fix resolved that issue.
The only minor drawback was that some kids may find it hard to press the brake pedal effectively due to their lack of driving experience. But I made sure my 8 and 10-year-old kids used the clutch as the brake instead - they preferred automatic anyway. My point is, however, that these issues were easily resolved with a simple adjustment.
If you're looking for a cost-effective solution to add more gear options to your games without breaking the bank, this wheel and pedals offer an excellent balance of features and price. With a bit of creativity in finding the right attachments, I'm convinced that it's perfect - just make sure you have something to attach it to and can stop the pedals from sliding across the floor!
