Product Reviews

Name: Review:
I was initially disappointed by the minor lag when moving between apps in the home screen, but after doing a factory restore, I noticed a significant improvement in overall performance.

The experience with software updates seemed to be particularly bothersome - despite numerous attempts, I couldn't resolve the issue and it still persists. I've tried unplugging and restarting the TV as recommended, which only made things worse.

As it turns out, I was also experiencing issues with sound quality on my Echo Studios - a frustrating problem that wasn't resolved through software updates. Fortunately, after attempting to troubleshoot, I found that the fix lay in using a system restore feature instead of relying solely on automated updates.

Despite some minor drawbacks, particularly related to my router and internet speed, I was more than happy with the appearance of the Fire TV when it was first purchased - especially considering its built-in design and minimalist aesthetic. The single remote control also presented an opportunity to upgrade the overall look of the device, making it cleaner and more streamlined.

Moving on to operation, I've been impressed by how seamlessly the Fire TV has integrated my Ethernet cable, which not only provides faster speeds but also resolves wireless connectivity issues when testing via Wi-Fi. It's worth noting that my router is a relatively high-speed setup - 1.6GB of bandwidth - but the Fire TV's tech appears to be optimized for this.

From a user perspective, the home screen lag has been negligible, and I wouldn't have to worry about being a tech whiz in order to appreciate the picture quality. Since it arrived, I've had minimal complaints from others who share similar viewing habits with me - as long as they have 4K inputs, such as Netflix or Dolby Atmos-compatible channels, the picture is generally acceptable.

I'm thrilled with my purchase and would definitely recommend this TV to those on a budget. For some, the cost may be prohibitively expensive, but if you're willing to pay more for features like improved picture quality and seamless connectivity - even with high-speed internet - I believe it's well worth considering. The TV has already shown me that it can deliver exceptional viewing qualities without breaking the bank.

I bought the 50-inch version for £380 as a prime day offer, and I'm extremely pleased with the picture quality. It's not on par with some top-end TVs, but it's still a nice-looking device. Given the price point, I think it's an excellent value proposition. The sound is also quite good, with more bass than my previous TV. However, there's one area where it falls short - the user interface can be sluggish when navigating around the home screen and within apps. It's perfectly usable, but it's a bit as zippy as some other devices I've used before.

The Freeview implementation is another mixed bag. The tiles showing what's on each channel are nicely integrated into the home screen, but they can sometimes take a while to populate, especially if you're using them frequently. It takes around 4-5 seconds for the guide to appear after selecting a programme, which I've found to be perfectly acceptable. That said, it does speed up slightly as you get more familiar with it.

One of my biggest concerns is Alexa's integration with other devices and services. If someone presses your doorbell for example, it shows a live view of the camera in the top right corner. While this is convenient, I'm not sure how often I'll be using these features. In terms of overall performance, I'd say it's been slightly disappointing since its higher price point was introduced - responsiveness has suffered.

Overall, I think £380 gets you an excellent value for money, but some of the other features and options may make 4.5 stars a more accurate assessment.

I've had this TV for about a month now and have used it mostly for viewing internet services, familiar with my previous Fire TV experience having previously used Fire TV sticks on my 40-inch Panasonic Viera and 24-inch Sony Bravia. The ease of operation was one reason I chose to buy this television - the experience is great and I like how easily I can find what I'm looking for in the app. The picture quality is fantastic, with the latest Dolby Vision and a big advantage over my previous TV. However, there's been an issue with the synchronisation between picture and sound from the internal speakers being occasionally slow to load.

Using the terrestrial TV guide was also a bit of a slog at first, but I've found that once you're in the guide and channel swapping is under way, it speeds up significantly. My main complaint about this TV is that using the guide is really slow, taking what feels like an age to bring up your options, but once you get going, it's much faster.

Despite the slow initial loading time of the guide, I've been happy with the overall performance of the TV and internet services, and I'm pleased to report that my Fire TV experience is great. If you're in the market for a new TV without being too attached to traditional terrestrial viewing methods, this one might be worth considering at the current price.
